Christine
Jorgensen Reveals

"In 1958 an interview took place which acted not only as a barometer
of America's socio-sexual mores, it may even have influenced them.
Until recently the conversation between post-op transsexual Christine Jorgensen
and host Nipsy Russell existed only as a 78rpm vinyl record. But New York-based
actor and lip-synch artist Bradford Louryk had the recording digitised, and
then painstakingly learned every phrase, hesitation and glitch.
Here he lip-synchs the interview in full, dressed to the nines as the glamorous
Miss Jorgensen; while Russell is portrayed on video by actor/comedian Rob
Grace, via a vintage TV set on the stage.
The result, an extraordinary homage to Jorgensen's assurance and intelligence,
gives a fascinating insight into the society to which she returned after undergoing
surgery in Denmark. Louryk's performance is beautifully poised, but what really
stands out is the technical achievement."
