Technical Rider

This technical rider is an integral part of the contract and must be signed and returned with the contract in order for the contract to be fully executed.

The following technical instructions represent the basic requirements of the Production:

Christine Jorgensen Reveals (hereafter referred to as The Production) carries its own costumes, sets, and props.

PERSONNEL

The Presenter agrees to provide a technical director familiar with the place of production(s).

The Presenter agrees to provide all required stage personnel for set-up, load-in, performances and strike.

The Presenter will provide a set-up crew to pre-hang the Production light plot and soft goods. It is essential that lighting and drapes be pre-hung according to the light plot and hookup, prior to the Production’s arrival.

The technical crews shall consist of competent loaders and stage hands and technicians to load in, set up, run (operate to lighting board(s), sound equipment, deck and curtains needs), take down and load out the show. This shall consist of electricians, sound technicians and stagehands or technical needs to operate the equipment as required for the performance(s). These personnel will be provided by the presenter and shall consist of:

Load-in crew:
1 sound technician
1 video technician

Running crew:
1 light board operator
1 sound operator
1 video operator

Additional crew may be required. If any crew member (including the stage manager) is able and willing to do the duties of any other member of the running crew, they may act as those members of the crew. Crew minimums can be reduced by written agreement with the Artist’s Production Manager. The technical and stage personnel provided by the Presenter must be competent to complete both the set up and technical rehearsal within the stipulated time periods. The Production will not be responsible for any costs required by unions or other agents, including the Presenter, for personnel, whether operating or supervisory. Should there be technical rehearsals required; the crewmembers working the rehearsal shall be the same during performances.

The Presenter will provide a stage manager as required by union regulations. The stage manager will be present for set-up, load-in, rehearsals, performances and strike.

EQUIPMENT

The Presenter will provide a tech table front-of-house for all technical rehearsals.

The Production will send a lighting plot, gel list and general instructions specific to the program and venue at least 3 weeks in advance. The Presenter agrees to have the Production’s light plot hung, cabled, patched and colored prior to the arrival of the Production’s Technical Director.

The Production’s sound and video is on DVD (Digital Video Disc). The sound system must be capable of producing high quality sound at all levels.

Equipment needs are as follows:

Wig Head
Steamer
Hangers
Clothing rack
Gaff Tape
Spike Tape
Soft goods: general black masking drapery
Professional quality lighting equipment as required by accompanying lighting plot
Mixing console with minimum 2 inputs (1 DVD + 1 DVD back-up) / 3 outputs (2 house outputs (stereo) + 1 monitor output (stereo))
Front-of-house speakers (preferably clustered center) sufficient to amplify sound throughout the entirety of the house
2 monitor speakers (preferably JB80)
A headset communications system for the Stage Manager (backstage & in the house) to communicate with the light board operator, sound operator, and video operator.

The Production does not carry lights, lighting, sound or video equipment. The Presenter must be prepared to rent additional equipment if the available sound, lighting and video equipment does not meet minimum Production requirements as specified in this rider and on the attached basic lighting plot.

The Presenter shall be responsible for striking any and all equipment required for the performance(s).

THEATRE AND ADJOINING SPACES

The Presenter will make the theater available for eight hours (exclusive of meal breaks) the day before the performance to focus and gel pre-hung lighting equipment, cue the show, hang Production soft goods, rig/assemble scenery, and set up additional sound and video equipment not in the theater sound and video system.

The Presenter further agrees to make the theater available from 8:00 am on the day of performance for continuation of set-up, if needed, and for a full technical rehearsal. If same day load-in and performance are required, crew minimums and set up time will have to be increased, as agreed to by the Artist’s Production Manager and Theater’s Technical Director in writing.

The Presenter will make the best possible effort to ensure that the temperature of the performance space be 68 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 3 hours prior to rehearsals and performances. The Production understands that the temperature of certain venues, particularly those that are partly or entirely outdoors, cannot be controlled. The Presenter will, however, in case of inconvenient weather do whatever possible to ensure the comfort of the performers.

Stage floor: The preferred size of the performing space is 26’ deep with a proscenium opening of 26’. The stage floor will be painted matte black or appear as natural wood. The floor will be swept and mopped before the initial load in of the set.

Stage Configuration: The standard configuration will have a minimum of 1 opening per side. The minimum size for wing openings is 5’.

Dressing Rooms: One heated/air conditioned dressing room is needed and should be equipped with hot and cold water, “true” (meaning accurate/not distorted or warped) Make-up Mirror lighted with bright, even, Incandescent bulbs, as well as a true dressing mirror (full length), clothing racks and hangers for costumes are required. The use of a washing machine and dryer would be appreciated. A professional-quality garment steamer is required. Toilets and showers should be near by. Dressing rooms must be reserved exclusively for the use of the Production, and must be able to be locked. The Presenter is responsible for costumes left in the dressing room through the duration of residency of the Production in the venue.

TRANSPORTATION

The Presenter agrees to provide local transportation between airport and hotel for Bradford Louryk and transportation to and from the theater for Production equipment. The Presenter further agrees to provide local transportation for the Production between the theater and the hotel for all rehearsals, performances, residency and such charges.

INFORMATION

The Presenter agrees to provide the Production with the following data at least three months in advance of the performance:

Theater ground plans
Center-line section
Lineset schedule
Soft goods inventory
Accurate inventory of operational lighting equipment with a description of control system
Accurate inventory of operational sound equipment with a description of control system
A general description of the theater: type, seating arrangement and capacity
Union Status of crew (including stage management)
Dressing room specifications

The Presenter is responsible for sending all technical data for the place of performance to the Production’s Technical Director, c/o the general management. This must include theater ground plans, sections, and sightlines, a list of available lighting instruments and control equipment, sound equipment system, dressing room facilities and soft goods. Technical information must be provided with the contract.

LOCAL MANAGER

Should the Presenter be unable to be present at all times during the period of activities covered by this rider, then the local manager or representative should be appointed to act for him. The local manager shall have the power and understanding to resolve any disagreements arising from the misinterpretation of this rider, and to act on the behalf of the Presenter whenever the need should arise.

RECORDING OF PERFORMANCE

No part, portion or segment of the performance shall be reproduced, by either audio-or video-recording, without the express written permission of the Production Director. The Production shall, at all times, retain sole artistic control over the performances and other activities.

INDICATION OF UNDERSTANDING OF TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Presenter and the Technical Director must initial the attached technical sheets on each page. The name and telephone/fax numbers, along with e-mail address of the Presenter’s Technical Director, must be indicated. Technical sheets must be returned with contract.

TAXES / TAX EXEMPTION

At the time of signing this contract, it is the responsibility of the Presenter to inform the Production of any taxes or other charges that will be accessed against the performance fee, and to forward the appropriate tax exemption forms when applicable. The Presenter agrees to obtain and pay for any and all local work permits, union fees, taxes, and other local licenses that may be required for the Production to carry out the activities covered by this agreement

PROGRAM COPY / CREDITS

The complete program, including the program and director’s notes, the actors’ names, and cast credits and biographies must be printed in its entirety as it is considered part of the performance. The Production will provide the presenter with the Program Copy on a mutually agreed upon deadline. The Production will proofread the program copy before it is printed by the presenter. The printed program is to be made available to the audience free of charge.

PRESS CLIPPINGS / REVIEWS / PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL

The Production maintains and extensive archive of their activities. Copies of press releases, ads, listings, brochures, flyers and other publicity material, as well as news stories and reviews, should be sent to the Production c/o the general management.

INSURANCE

The Presenter shall provide for adequate insurance coverage, including insurance against losses due to fire or theft, and personal liability insurance covering the activities of the residency. The Presenter agrees to indemnify and hold the Production harmless form all claims arising in any manner in connection with the performance(s) or other residency activities, except to the extent that such a claim may be occasioned by the negligent act(s) of the Production.

Both the presenter and the Production must approve any changes to this rider in writing.
